Computer Applications Training

Free, Non Credit Computer Application Training Workshops For all Members of the UAlbany Community |
Our New ITS Classroom is here!
ITS Computer Training Classes will now be held in LC SB30A, starting October 2008.
The classroom can be reached by the stairs or the elevator adjacent to LC27 in the Lecture Center Complex on the Academic Podium on the main campus.
Once on the sub basement level, take a left out of the stairs or elevator and the classroom is the last door on the right, just before the end of the hall.
Office 2007 is here!
Starting September 2008, we will be offering 2007 upgrade classes for Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. These will be listed at the top of each course module page.
The interface has changed significantly, as has the default file format. Look for Course C03, in module C, at left if you want a general overview of the 07 interface and changes. Take any of these classes if you are interested, and definitely before you upgrade to Office 2007.
When appropriate, we will begin offering our regular application classes in the new version.
Computer Applications Training (CAT), a division of the Client Support Services department within ITS, offers the ITS Computer Applications Training program; non-credit workshops in popular software applications to University at Albany faculty, staff and students on an ongoing, year round, regularly scheduled basis. Courses are offered to all University members free of charge.
These courses are organized into modules (see menu at left) and cover content that is relevant to our user’s daily needs and assists them in the use of standard software provided by or used at the University at Albany. Many courses are components of a series that taken together will give attendees a thorough understanding of the relevant applications. Please note: Some of the applications covered in CAT workshops are NOT supported technically by the Information Technology Services group, but instruction is provided as a courtesy to University employees.
Course Cancellation Policy
CAT reserves the right to cancel any class, at the instructors discretion. In general, if enrollment is less than 4 persons as late as the day before the class, the instructor may cancel. If less than 4 enrolled persons are actually present at the official start time of a class, the instructor may cancel. Classes may also be canceled due to instructor illness or other absence, sudden room unavailability or other reasons.
CAT will make every effort to contact enrollees via email if a class is to be canceled. We ask that enrollees who cannot attend a particular class also contact the instructor and advise accordingly. All classes will start promptly at the official start time.
Special Sessions
We are happy to develop courses that are relevant to any specific department or office and/or to schedule additional office/group specific sessions.
Other Workshop Sites:
The Interactive Media Center of the University Library (IMC) also has a free series of classes available to faculty, staff and students. These sessions are mostly 1 to 1 1/2 hours in length and cover important topics such as HTML, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, PDF and similar areas.
