Web Design Certificates
General Description
The Web Design Certificates are meant to give users recognizable documents that show that they have mastered significant knowledge of the features and functionality of Adobe Photoshop. There are three (3) separate Photoshop Certificates that you can earn. The UAlbany Web Design certificate is based on mastering the basics of web design using Macromedia Dreamweaver and UAlbany compliant Web Templates. The Dreamweaver Web Design certificate covers non UAlbany specific web design using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX2004. The FrontPage Web Design certificate covers non UAlbany specific web design using Microsoft FrontPage 2003.
UAlbany Web Design Certificate
Candidates must attend ITS Computer Workshops I01, I02 and I04 (3 total classes) as decribed in Module I (link at left). Alternatively, if a candidate feels that they have the skills covered in some or all of those workshops, they can opt to either not attend, or to pick and choose.
To earn the certificate, all candidates must attend Course I20 which is the testing session. During this 2 hour session, candidates will complete a written exam and also a hands on skills assessment test. The instructor will ask questions and and give directions and will assess the candidates quickness and ability to perform the prescribed functions.
Dreamweaver Web Design Certificate
Candidates must attend ITS Computer Workshops I01 and I04 through I07 (5 total classes) as decribed in Module I (link at left). Alternatively, if a candidate feels that they have the skills covered in some or all of those workshops, they can opt to either not attend, or to pick and choose.
To earn the certificate, all candidates must attend Course I21 which is the testing session. During this 2 hour session, candidates will complete a written exam and also a hands on skills assessment test. The instructor will ask questions and and give directions and will assess the candidates quickness and ability to perform the prescribed functions.
FrontPage Web Design Certificate
Candidates must attend ITS Computer Workshops I01 and I04 and I08 through I10 (5 total classes) as decribed in Module I (link at left). Alternatively, if a candidate feels that they have the skills covered in some or all of those workshops, they can opt to either not attend, or to pick and choose.
To earn the certificate, all candidates must attend Course I22 which is the testing session. During this 2 hour session, candidates will complete a written exam and also a hands on skills assessment test. The instructor will ask questions and and give directions and will assess the candidates quickness and ability to perform the prescribed functions.
Assessment
A score of 75% is passing for the written exam and a score of 90% is passing for the hands on skills test. The written exam will ask some tougher, more theoretical questions reflecting discussions held in the various workshops. The hands on skills assessment will cover standard skill functions covered in the workshops. The grades will be used only internally for assessment purposes and not be noted on the certificate itself.
