Outlook Certificate
General Description
The Outlook Certificate is meant to give users a recognizable document that shows that they have mastered significant knowledge of the features and functionality of Microsoft Outlook. Candidates will be expected to demostrate significant skills concerning Outlook Email on the Exchange system (including Attachments, Distribution Lists, Mail Filtering, Folder Management, Categorization and Archiving), Calendar Management (both Personal and Meeting Organization) and Task Management (including Task Assignment).
Procedure
Candidates must attend ITS Computer Workshops B01 through B06 as decribed in Module A (link at left). Alternatively, if a candidate feels that they have the skills covered in some or all of those workshops, they can opt to either not attend, or to pick and choose.
To earn the certificate, all candidates must attend Course B10 which is the testing session. During this 2 hour session, candidates will complete a written exam and also a hands on skills assessment test. The instructor will ask questions and and give directions and will assess the candidates quickness and ability to perform the prescribed functions.
Assessment
A score of 75% is passing for the written exam and a score of 90% is passing for the hands on skills test. The written exam will ask some tougher, more theoretical questions reflecting discussions held in the various workshops. The hands on skills assessment will cover standard skill functions covered in the workshops. The grades will be used only internally for assessment purposes and not be noted on the certificate itself.
